A weekend on the road without my computer or camera — just a sketchbook that I never pulled out. We stayed at a small farm with a bed and breakfast and went to a 7-course dinner at a neighboring farm. I also bought a shovel at an antique (old stuff?) store, so my farm theme held. I picked up a few other previously loved treasures, as well as a book and a pound of coffee; both purchased directly from the small local businesses we visited. We walked on a very windy beach, ate a lot of really good food, and took a few naps in front of the fireplace while the rain poured down.
I think a lot about inspiration, where it comes from, and how to access it when I am ready to create. Novel experiences are an obvious resource for finding inspiration, but learning how to be in the experience rather than worrying about how to capture the moment can be challenging.
