For the last four years, I have hosted a workshop/challenge at the end of winter. The purpose of the workshop is both a celebration of the coming spring equinox and an acknowledgment that, for many of us, it will still look like winter outside for a while.
As a botanical artist, I used to struggle with this – I wanted all of the pretty green things to paint. But after I passed my 10-year mark living in the Midwest, I realized that I needed to take a closer look at what was around me. And what I found was so incredibly beautiful. There are plenty of botanical things to draw and paint, and the palette is anything but boring. The response has been incredible, with thousands of people joining over the years.

The thing is, I did all of this over on Meta platforms. This year, I don’t want to spend money on Meta ads, and I don’t want to have to yell so loudly. I want the days leading up to the equinox to be quiet and beautiful. I want it to feel like a gentle celebration of the rest we are awakening from. So, this year, I am going to do it a bit differently. I will host Botanical Inspiration in Late Winter here on Substack. Whether you are a free or paid subscriber, there will be something for you. Free subscribers will receive the daily prompts, and the paid subscribers will get a look into my process and can join the chat. Whether you want to participate in the daily activities or just check in and enjoy watching the process, you are welcome.
The Late Winter Botanical Inspiration challenge will run from March 16-20. I’m excited to meet you ❤︎

This will be the perfect summoning for Spring....a beautiful goodbye to the rest of Winter. I'm anticipating it all!
Very much looking forward to this. Thank you!
