This is the last of four emails this week that are part of a botanical art challenge leading up to the spring equinox. I am a watercolor painter, but whatever your medium is (photography, writing, digital artist…), you are welcome to join or just follow along.
Happy spring equinox!
Thank you for joining me in the greenhouse this week. I look forward to sharing more as the seasons change.
Today is the culmination of our late winter challenge. While things might not look a whole lot different outside, spring is officially here. To celebrate, we will bring together our inspired collections, mixed colors, and compositions and make a piece of art. I decided to create a sketchbook page with watercolor, as that is my medium of choice, but you can, of course, use whatever you like.
I also want to remind you that this process can be useful anytime you want to make art or inspire a piece. The process of gathering inspiration, taking time to really look at what you have collected, thinking about what makes a good composition, and using all of this information to create something is always available to you. I particularly love doing this in the late winter, as it is easy to tell myself there is not a lot of inspiration out there (botanically speaking). This process helps to get me back on track, and reminds me to take time to really look.
I have shared a few of the pieces I have made over the last couple of years and will do a short demonstration with a couple of the items that help tell the story of my garden this spring equinox. And as always, I would love to see what you are working on.
